| Dynamics 365 Developer Toolkit Beta Released |

A public beta of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Developer Toolkit has been released, along with general improvements for developers within Dynamics itself.
The news was somewhat surprising as the tool had been languishing without updates since the release of SDK for Dynamics CRM 2013. The new version removes support for Visual Studio 2010, but includes support for VS 2012, 2013 and 2015. The beta version support Plugins, Workflows, Class Generation, Custom Operations, Workflow generation, and debugging. The toolkit offers a way to create and edit customizations within Visual Studio. You can also use it to create workflow activity code.
The new version adds the ability to create a new solution directly from Visual Studio. In the earlier version, you had to create the solution in Dynamics CRM then open that solution in the toolkit.
 You can also now choose which projects a solution should be added to when you create them. There's a new Visual Studio Solution Template for Dynamics 365 that lets you specify names for projects.
 Another improvement is the ability to generate early binding classes for entities and actions within Visual Studio, and you can also create business processes and dialogs. Once you've created a solution, you can now choose which components should be deployed to the CRM instance.
Alongside the release of the Visual Studio toolkit beta, Microsoft is also improving the developer environment within Dynamics 365. From December there's a new Connected Field Service for Microsoft Dynamics 365 that integrates Internet of Things (IoT) devices with Microsoft Dynamics 365 online version.
There's also an Azure-based SaaS service that can be used to bring together data from multiple sources, including Microsoft Dynamics 365, and that has two sets of REST interfaces: the Azure Resource Manager (ARM) APIs and the Hub APIs. The Dynamics 365 Web API has also been improved and supports the supports access to local data in Dynamics 365 for Outlook when the user is offline. The API will also now retrieve entity data on create or update, and lets you reference metadata by name.Other improvements include the ability to programmatically create and manage product properties in Dynamics 365, so you can automate the product catalog in Dynamics 365 and integrate it with third-party software. A final improvement is new modular business apps that let you choose to expose a limited set of functionality for users in Dynamics 365 depending on their area of work and security role.
