Microsoft has produced a conversion kit to help Qt developers transfer their skills to the Windows Phone 7 platform and has also put a training show on the road. Microsoft brought out its iOS to Windows Phone 7 conversion kit at the end of April and the Android equivalent in June so perhaps the question has to be why has it taken so long to produce one for Symbian given that Nokia and Microsoft was working together in the attempt to make Windows Phone 7 a success.
Finally, there is a conversion guide aimed at developers who have programmed Qt applications for Symbian^3, Symbian Anna, or Symbian Belle. The 108-page "Windows Phone Guide for Symbian Qt Application Developer" can be downloaded in DOCX or PDF format and has the following chapter structure:
In addition a third section has been added to the interactive Windows Phone API mapping tool that allows you to select a Qt component, element and so on and see what class it corresponds to in the Silverlight/.NET framework.
The extra strand of the effort to persuade Symbian developers to switch to Windows Phone 7 is the Nokia Windows Phone Training roadshow which has its first outing in Paris this week and has four forthcoming dates in Europe:
According to its website, the roadshow is also going to visit Silicon Valley, USA in the coming weeks. Is Microsoft doing enough to recruit developers to its mobile platform? Time will tell. Related articles:Microsoft has magic iOS to WP7 conversion tool? Android to Windows Phone conversion kit
