Google has added a premium tier to the Google Developer Program. The new tier is described as providing "a tailored suite of services to help developers throughout the learning, building and deployment phases of their journey". The Google Developer Program was introduced earlier this year "to help developers build, learn and grow". The program gives developers access to a range of new tools and benefits such as technical assistance from Gemini. The basic program is open to developers worldwide and is free to join. Developers can sign up to training, organize their work, track their progress, earn badges, and share their achievements. The new tier costs $299 per year, and comes with a range of benefits, starting with $500 of Google Cloud credits that Google describes as "designed to help bootstrap your projects and experiment with Google Cloud resources", including Gemini Code Assist, Firebase, and Vertex AI. The program also lets developers apply for a Google Cloud certification voucher that Google says will help developers demonstrate their proficiency and accelerate their careers. More useful might be the ability to book 1-to-1 consultations with Google Cloud experts, with the option of booking a 30 or 60-minute consultation a Google cloud specialist. Subscribers also get access to 700+ on-demand training paths on Google Cloud Skills Boost. Skills Boost is a Google offering consisting of online courses, hands-on labs, and certifications in Google Cloud technologies, and subscribers can also receive an additional $500 USD credit bonus annually so long as they pass a Google Cloud certification each year. One thing to watch out for if you're not a resident of the USA is that the terms of the subscription says that it is “restricted to business or professional use” only in Europe, the UK, and Switzerland. Google Developer Program Premium Tier is available now.
