Facebook has launched a video channel to give developers a new way of accessing its tutorials, conferences and more. Its first live event takes place today.

Developers Live is a new addition to the Facebook Developers site that was established in 2007 and has over 1.1million likes.

The screencasts currently available on the site include the keynote from the Facebook Mobile Developer Day in which Dan Purdy, Facebook Head of Platform Product, explains how Facebook can help your app get noticed.

At 22 minutes this is the longest screencast. The others are tutorials and last from 4 to 15 minutes:

  • Your First Open Graph App
  • Publishing Open Graph Actions Using the JavaScript SDK
  • Introduction to Mobile App Install Ads
  • Using the Facebook SDK for Android
  • Open Graph Tagging Users, Messages, and Posts
  • Open Graph Pro Tips

The first live event on Developer Live is scheduled for 10:30am PST (1:30pm EST; 6:30pm GMT) on February 19, 2013. The idea is that Doug Purdy will discuss "the top 3 things every mobile developer needs to know in 2013.”

The audience will have a chance to ask questions, both by asking them in advance and also live during the event. Currently over 4,300 developers have said they will be attending with around 400 maybes and another 3,800 having been invited. So that gives any one person a pretty low chance of their question answered.

Google Hangouts seem to work best with a limit of around a dozen participants so how will this live event work as an interactive experience?

If you attend please let us know.
