Candidates for this certification are expected to be  writing application code against systems that run SQL Server 2008, writing T-SQL or Microsoft .NET CLR code that runs inside SQL Server 2008, or developing solutions in SQL Server 2008.

Business Intelligence Developer

Candiates for this certification are expected to be working with SQL Server 2008 and its business intelligence technologies, including Reporting Services, Analysis Services, and Integration Services

MCTIP

From MCTS to MCTIP on all three of these career paths involves one more exam These exams are more demanding and candidates usually have at least two to three years of experience.

Candidates for the Microsoft Certified Database Administrator certification, Exam 70-450, are expected to have experience with the following:

  • Defining high-availability solutions
  • Data distribution
  • Automating administrative tasks (for example, checking db stats, backups)
  • Maintaining administrative tasks (for example, determining index rebuild time, file groups for backup)
  • Defining security solutions
  • Monitoring and troubleshooting the database server
  • Performance optimization (for example, physical tuning, including hardware, operating system, instance-level tuning), PerfMon
  • Designing and executing deployments
  • Deployments and migration
  • Defining the infrastructure (for example, storage, hardware, and number of servers or instances)

Candidates for the Microsoft Certified Database Developer certification, Exam 70-451, are expected to have experience with the following:

  • Writing transact SQL queries
  • Programming the database
  • Troubleshooting programming objects (for example, stored procedures, triggers, user-defined functions [UDFs], user-defined types [UDTs], and queries)
  • Database performance tuning and optimization
  • Designing databases at both the conceptual and logical levels
  • Implementing databases at the physical level
  • Might be involved in designing and troubleshooting the data access layer of the application
  • Gathering business requirements

Candidates for the Microsoft Certified Business Intelligence Developer certification, Exam 70-452, are expected to have experience with the following:
