The conference has over 40 sessions covering SharePoint, and the opening keynote will be given by Steve Fox, Director with the Microsoft Services group, and Donovan Follette, an Architect for the Microsoft Modern Apps Center of Excellence. The two will look at ‘the modern app’ in terms of how to design for the cloud and what this means for SharePoint.

The second keynote on ‘Taking Office Beyond the Client with Office Web Apps Server’ is being given by Mirjam van Olst and Spencer Harbar, looking at the new deployment model based on Office Web Apps Server used to provide browser-based file viewing and editing services for Office files. The keynote will explore the new features of Office Web Apps Server and how to build solutions that use it.

There’s a track aimed specifically at developers, with sessions including Building Windows Client Applications for SharePoint 2013 with Bill Ayers; SharePoint Hosted Apps and JavaScript with Wesley Bakker looking at working with JavaScript and SharePoint, how to use T4 templates to generate JavaScript for you and how to extend the SharePoint Client-Side Object Model.

Donald Hessing is giving a session titled ‘SharePoint Nightmares – Coding Patterns and Practices’, in which he discusses how it can be tricky to use the SharePoint API the right way to avoid SharePoint’s dark side.

The new Cloud App Model gets an outing in Donovan Follette’s session on developing Provider-Hosted Apps for SharePoint 2013, with coverage of the new model, how you can build and deploy your applications, and the variations of Web applications.

Windows Azure for SharePoint People with Dennis Mulder shows how to use Windows Azure Virtual Machines to "lift and shift" SharePoint instances, and how to make use of Azure and its services to deploy and integrate applications with SharePoint. Dennis will also show how to design and deploy cloud-based solutions integrating SharePoint Online and Windows Azure in the new SharePoint apps model.

Wouter van Vugt’s session called ‘Faulty by Design - Top 10 Developer Mistakes’ points out that given the flexibility and depth of integration of SharePoint, your work can cause failures from a single page, up to and including rendering an entire company workless by taking down the farm. He invites you to come learn from the many mistakes made while developing enterprise systems on top of SharePoint.

This year, the conference is running a full day of workshops the day after the conference on November 21st. These will be dive-deep topics delivered by Steve Fox, Wouter van Vugt, Dan Holme and Benjamin Niaulin. The ever-popular “SharePint” social evening is running so you can enjoy free drinks and food together with speakers and solution providers.
