| Google Releases Apigee API Hub |

Google has released Apigee API hub, a central repository for APIs, regardless of where they're hosted or who created them. The aim is to provide a single view onto an entire API ecosystem, making it easier to manage, govern, and observe all the APIs in one place. Apigee is an API management platform that can be used to implement and publish APIs. It was acquired by Google in 2016. API hub can be used to capture critical information about APIs that allows developers to discover and evaluate them easily. API platform teams can use API hub to gain visibility into and manage their portfolio of APIs.
The new hub provides a unified platform to register all your APIs and associated metadata, no matter where the APIs live. It seamlessly integrates with Apigee X and Apigee Hybrid. It has traditional filter-based search and AI-powered semantic search, meaning users can search using natural language, find APIs based on functionality ("send a message"), or search for specific error codes("find inconsistent-versioning lint error"). The hub also has events and actions that can be used to trigger workflows like reviews and release approvals, or automate the creation and deployment of proxy configurations to API gateways. It also includes generative AI. Google says Gemini Code Assist for Apigee uses API hub data to accelerate development and promote consistency. Application Integration uses Gemini and API hub to automatically suggest the best connector/REST configuration for your integrations. Google Apigee API Hub is available now.

Apigee itself can be used to API proxies and visually configure or code API policies as steps in the API flow, and can customize API behavior using code. It also has a developer portal so companies can publish APIs to the customizable portal, so that developers can explore, test, get API keys, and make use of existing APIs. Customers can use Apigee as an abstraction layer on top of existing services, and can make data and services available as APIs to partners and developers.
