The Sound Of Coding

There are sites that help you get to sleep, or just feel warm and safe, by playing rainstorm sounds. What about getting in the mood for some coding by listening to others do it?

Yes there is a site for that.

Coding.fm is a simple site with just three options. You can listen to a gentle "Monday morning coder" tapping away soporifically. For me this was better than a rainstorm and, knowing someone else was doing the typing, I felt like I could relax like a cat.

If you switch to "Hackathon coding" then the pace hots up a little. I can imagine using this as a wake up ring tone.

Finally there is the demonic "Angry Dev Coding". I can't stand to listen to this. It winds me up in ways that I really can't cope with. How could anyone hit their keyboard that hard! Poor keyboard and what does the code look like - ugh!

Visit the site and see if you agree.

If enough people visit then I guess there will be other coding styles added. Personally I'd like to add "Fortran Coder" and perhaps "Object Oriented Coder" - I'm sure I'd hear the differences. And who could miss the complexity of typing in APL, and the repeated brackets of Lisp...

For the home worker requiring a background sound of busy typing while checking with the office by phone, although how you type and use the phone is another question, this may be exactly what you need.

Of course if your preferences are more for the traditional rain then visit Raining.fm and who says there's no weather in the cloud?
