Intel is looking for "breakthru apps" in the emerging field of perceptual computing.  A new challenge has just begun with a million dollar prize pool.

The competition, the second to be staged, is for "the most innovative ideas that leverage the Intel Perceptual Computing SDK" and in the first phase, which runs until June 17th contestants need to register and provide details of an idea in one of four categories:

  • Perceptual Gaming
  • Open Innovation
  • Creative User Experience
  • Productivity

This video trailer showcases some of the ideas from the previous Perceptual Computing Challenge:

Judges will select 750 finalists from the ideas submission round who will each receive a Creative Interactive Gesture Camera Kit (commercially available at $149), which they can keep if they go on to submit a demo of an app.
