Team V Bionic from Saudi Arabia was crowned the Imagine Cup World Champions at Microsoft Build. Just before the winning team was announced it was revealed that, in honor of it being the 20th Anniversary of the competition, Microsoft was awarding a further $20,000 so that the two runner up teams would also have funding to take their projects forward. When we reported on the World Finalists for the 2022 Imagine Cup in March, 48 teams were still in contention and were about to pitch their ideas to a panel of expert judges, demo their tech, and engage in a question and answer session. Having reviewed and evaluated all of the diverse, innovative solutions the judges selected a winning team in each of the four categories - Earth, Education, Health, and Lifestyle - within each region - Americas, Asia, and EMEA (Europe, Middle East and Africa). These 12 teams were each awarded USD2500 cash and USD2500 in Azure credits and the top team in each region was invited to compete in the ultimate stage, the World Championship which is now staged as part of Build. The three teams who participated were: (follow the links for details of the teams and their projects) AMERICAS WINNER Melodic, United States Project: Melodic Melodic is an integrated system providing speech therapy service via hardware and software. The affordable device and app utilize neuroplasticity and Azure technology to retrain the brain by providing adaptive and gamified rehabilitation exercises. This video has the pitches made by the three teams at Build - in person in the case of teams Melodic and Nana Shilpa and remotely by V Bionic. As 2022 was the 20th Anniversary of the Imagine Cup it has an overview of earlier events as well as the presentations by the teams and their responses to questions from the judges. As shown in the video, all three teams were awarded funding to take their projects to the next level with V Bionic being awarded the grand prize of $100,000. Students who are interested in participating in the Imagine Cup 2022 should register on the Imagine Cup website and begin dreaming up their ideas.
