It is less than eight months since Android Lollipop arrived. However, Android M, which is rumored to be Marshmallow, is already waiting in the wings and is likely to be among the topics discussed at Google I/O 2015.

This year's Google I/O takes place May 28-29, onsite in San Fransisco and offsite either by watching the keynote and sessions in real-time on your own or by attending one of the many I/O Extended events.

IOEXTA blog post from Mike Pegg on the Google Developers blog encourages dev to Start planning for Google I/O and provides an interactive tool from Chrome or Android that adds talks directly to a personal "My Schedule" with the start and end times given according to your locality:

When the schedule was posted on May 6, 9to5Google noticed a session on the afternoon of Day 1 from the Android for Work Team that mentioned Android M:

Android M is bringing the power of Android to all kinds of workplaces. This opens huge new markets for hundreds of millions of devices to workers at small business, deskless workers, logistics and warehousing jobs; all be empowered by adoption of Android devices at Work.

The 30-minute sandbox session in question, and any reference to Android M has subsequently disappeared, and in its place there's an hour-long session that:

will highlight the most exciting new developer features on the Android platform.

There's plenty of interest at sessions not only around Android but also wearables and Google Fit. Whether or not Android M is unveiled, there should be plenty to learn from the keynote, which will be live streamed starting at 09:30 in San Francisco and introduced by Google's Senior Vice-President of Products, Sundar Pichai.
