With the end of support of Windows 10 just three months away, Windows 11 has finally edged ahead of Windows 10 in terms of Desktop Windows Version Market Share on a Worldwide Basis. In Europe, however, Windows 10 still stays firmly ahead. Although Microsoft has pushed Windows 11 very heavily since it was launched in October 2021 Windows 10 users have seemed pretty resistant to moving to it, leading me to speculate in December 2024 that Windows 10 might still be the dominant version of Windows in October 2025 when it reaches its end of support. As the latest StatCounter chart reveals, Windows 11 has now managed to overtake Windows 10 in terms of market share on a Worldwide basis and currently has 52.19% market share almost 8% ahead of Windows 10 which has fallen to 44.48 percent. This is quite a turnaround since a year ago, when Windows 10 had 66.04% and Windows 11 languished at 29.75%. While Worldwide Windows 11's share only exceeded that of Windows 10 during June, in North America that happened during March and now it leads its Windows 10 by 53.8% to 43.98%. In Europe however the switch from Windows 10 to Windows 11 appears to have stalled with Windows 10, with a share of 53.02% still stubbornly ahead of Windows 11 which has only 44.13%. So maybe in this region Windows 10 will still have the majority share of the market when Windows 10 reaches official end of support on October 14, 2025.
