Gen AI Skillup is an educational initiative by Google to enable anyone to learn how to use Generative AI. Google follows in OpenAI's footsteps. Last April and in "The OpenAI Academy Makes AI Accessible" we examined another such initiative but taken by OpenAI. Its mission was to provide: a treasure trove of information for spreading knowledge about AI to the general public; understanding what AI is and learning how to leverage it by using tools like ChatGPT. There's was no age restriction, no prerequisites or having to pay for joining the Academy;everyone was welcome. Now it's Google's turn to move along those lines. AI Skillup shares the same purpose with OpenAI's Academy, To cater for that wide a variety of audience, the content is split into Learning Paths: Introduction to Generative AI Learning Path Gemini for Google Cloud Learning Path Generative AI for Developers Learning Path Deploy and manage generative AI models Next step up the ladder, the Gemini for Google Cloud learning path, addresses all kind of engineers developers, data analysts, cloud engineers, architects, and security engineers in using Gemini's natural language chat interface to get answers to questions, coding, calling APIs, doing data analysis etc. Next, the Generative AI for Developers Learning Path delves into the "real" AI/ML material. A glimpse at the lessons covered will make that clear:
And finally, the Deploy and manage generative AI models path goes through managing the entire lifecycle of generative AI models, from development and deployment to monitoring. Includes a hands-on lab using Vertex Ai. To wrap it up, it's deeply encouraging that the big guns are teaching how to use GenAI and for free, addressing non-techies to developers. Certainly a degree of that includes their own promotional tooling but that doesn't skew the attempt at large. More Information
