May 4, is the International Day Against DRM, on which the Free Software Foundation campaign invites us to celebrate DRM-free media and boycott DRM.

DRM (Digital Rights Management or according to the Free Software Foundation's "Defective By Design" Digital "Restrictions" Management) is a contentious issue.

Since it started campaigning in 2006 DefectiveByDesign has raised awareness of the way in which DRM deprives users of full access to movies, music, literature and software. Now the campaign's goal is to eliminate DRM, particularly with regard to ebooks, an issue highlighted in the Stone Tapes blog.

On the International Day against DRM local events are taking place across the US, in the UK, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Norway and Japan.

Other ideas are to sign up to the campaign, put up banners on websites and blogs and spreading the word via Social Media.
