Electronics is the rock on which we build our software and as such we need to encourage kids to master, or at least get interested, in the subject. Now you can download a free coloring book aimed at doing just that.

LadyAda's coloring book is full of historical figures and neat electronics equipment and parts for you, sorrry I mean for kids, to color in. At the bottom of each drawing there's a short blurb explaining the idea and I have to admit that I learned a few things - such as "Ewald Georg von Kleist" made one of the first capacitors, and there's me thinking it was some German guy called Leiden Jar.

OK, enough of the jokes - view the video:

And finally download and print the book E is for Electronics which is available under a Creative Commons license.

If you want a proper printed copy, complete with a color cover and optional crayons, then visit the adafruit web site - at only $9.95 it would make a great present.

Of course if you are a conspiracy theorist, then you might accuse LadyAda (Limor Fried) of simply trying to entrap more children to sell electronic components and kits to. If so, good luck to her and can we do the same thing for programming?

P is for Programming anyone?
