Every year hundreds of student teams from around the world respond to the challenge of entering Microsoft's student technology competition, facing National Finals and World Semifinals before reaching the stage of the finals which this year (and in future) means a trip to the Microsoft Campus to compete in person.

This year more than 150 student projects from 64 countries were judged at the semifinal stage and from this pool nine teams in the Games category and twelve each in Innovation and  World Citizenship were selected to fly to Seattle. The judges were asked to decide which of the following three projects should be the overall winner.

  • Virtual Dementia Experience: simulates the effects of aging and dementia in a virtual environment, so that cognitively intact people can gain an appreciation of the issues confronting people with dementia.

The character can transit from one color zone to another to overcome obstacles.
