Amazon's annual conference ASW re:Invent will take place in Las Vegas, November 11-14, 2014. A full conference pass costs $1,299 and registration is now open.

Amazon is urging early registration as the event is expected to sell out and has supplied an email template for devs to send to their managers with the following justification for attending the event:

AWS re:Invent is a learning conference targeted at developers, architects, and technical decision makers. It is the best opportunity for your team to dive deep into the latest AWS services and have their technical questions answered.

By attending this event, your team will have an opportunity to:

  • Learn about the new services that are launching and dive deeper into the 228 new services and features we’ve released over the last year, including Amazon Kinesis (real-time analytics) and Amazon Workspaces (desktop virtualization).
  • Save development time by getting technical questions answered by the engineering teams that built the AWS Cloud and learning technical tips and tricks by AWS architects and expert customers.
  • Learn technical best practices that can’t be found anywhere else on application architecture and development, monitoring, application performance and security, and migration.
  • Discover ways to reduce your AWS bill.

The conference itself has over 200 technical sessions covering architecture, operations, security, and more but that's not all. On the Monday and Tuesday before it gets going there are full-day bootcamps, self-paced labs, and hackathons and technical skills and exams will be available throughout the week for those who want to become AWS Certified.

Amazon has already been hinting that there is some exciting new hardware about to be launched - a phone with face recognition - and perhaps AWS re:Invent will be the place to learn more about its APIs. The agenda currently doesn't provide any clues but it seems worth assuming that there will be plenty to keep us interested.
