Edera has launched Edera Protect AI, which offers out-of-the-box GPU configuration and security through auto detection, driver isolation, and GPU virtualization. The company has also announced a further round of funding that will be used to fund product expansion to include support for AI infrastructure.

Edera's security solutions include Project Kubernetes, a secure-by-design Kubernetes and AI solution that runs anywhere and secures workloads with hard isolation using a cloud-native Type 1 hypervisor. Edera also developed Am I Isolated, which provides a security benchmark that tests for container isolation.

The production release of Edera Protect AI follows the news of recent vulnerabilities discovered in NVIDIA's container that  Edera says highlight the critical need for secure GPU isolation in AI environments. The vulnerability, discovered by Wiz Research, affects the NVIDIA Container Toolkit - a widely-used tool that enables containerized AI applications to access GPU resources. Edera Protect AI automates GPU configuration while securing AI infrastructure. It automatically configures and isolates GPUs, eliminating manual configuration while protecting AI models from compromises.

Edera Protect AI simplifies GPU device provisioning and virtualization using device integrations. It also provides driver protection through isolation technology, and has Kubernetes integration letting users manage vGPUs and other devices as native Kubernetes resources. Support for stream processing devices such as tensor processing units and data processing units includes device sharing where available. The software also makes use of memory encryption technology such as AMD SEV and Intel TME via an inter-domain messaging bus to enable confidential containers.

Commenting on the release, Nick Jones, Head of Engineering at Nscale, said:

"AI is transforming industries at an unprecedented pace, but without secure, sovereign and sustainable infrastructure, its full potential can't be realized. Edera's advanced isolation technology provides a crucial layer of protection, preventing lateral movement and ensuring data integrity. In a world where GPU-powered AI is becoming the backbone of innovation, robust security is the foundation of a resilient and trustworthy AI ecosystem."

Alongside the product release, Edera also announced a further $15 million in Series A funding led by M12, Microsoft's Venture Fund. This follows three months after Edera's $5 million seed round, brings total funding to $20 million. Edera says this round will fund product expansion to include support for AI infrastructure.

Edera Protect AI is available now.
