Quantum specialists Qilimanjaro is the winner of this year's Four Years From Now competition. The award was made at this year's Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. Four Years From Now (4YFN) is an annual global competition to discover the best digital startups. Previous winners have included Financial wellness platform Payflow; AI-based remote health monitoring solution HumanITCare; and IoT Device Security Startup NanoLock. Now in its tenth year, 4YFN is held annually at MWC Barcelona. This year's winner, Qilimanjaro Quantum Tech, was selected as winner after an on-stage pitching competition judged by a panel of experts from the investor community and a live audience consisting of investors, business executives, entrepreneurs, government officials and the general public. Among the perks awarded to the winners are a €20,000 cash prize courtesy of GSMA Foundry, as well as a startup exhibition pod and speaking opportunity at 4YFN MWC Barcelona 2025. Quilimanjaro's aim is to: "develop fast-to-market app-specific analog quantum computers with true quantum benefits by co-designing chips and algorithms and bypassing the qubit fragility barrier." Qilimanjaro beat five other finalists who had been shortlisted from the 4YFN Top 50 Startups list. The finalists were selected based on criteria including the innovation of the startup's proposition, its impact, its future potential and more. The other finalists were Bitsensing (South Korea), Mica AI Medical (Israel), Ocean Econstructures (Spain) and Whispp (the Netherlands). Bitsensing designs and develops imaging radar technology solutions for the ultimate smart cities and connected experience. MICA is an AI decision support system that helps radiologists perform precise and effective mammography analysis. Ocean Econstructures is developing a biodiversity regeneration program designed to regenerate marine life and mitigate environmental effects on oceans. Whisp's language independent AI technology and calling app converts whispered speech and vocal cord impaired speech into a clear and natural voice of the users choice.
