NVIDIA has partnered with Hackster.io in a competition that requires you to add NVIDIA hardware to an AI or robotics project. There's over $100K in prizes and one project will be selected for a special "AI Social Impact Award". The contest on Hackerter.io, Hackster.io, the community site dedicated to hardware projects, opened in October, but as the deadline for submissions is 31st January 2020 there is still plenty of time to join in. The hardware around which this challenge is focused is the $99 NVIDIA Jetson Nano Developer Kit, described as: a small, powerful computer that lets you run multiple neural networks in parallel for applications like image classification, object detection, segmentation, and speech processing. All in an easy-to-use platform that runs in as little as 5 watts. To know more about it, here's its promo video:
The remit of the challenge is to use it to create a new application or solution that falls into one of the following three categories: 1.) Autonomous Machines & Robotics The contest is open to those 13 years of age and older and resident in certain countries, see the contest rules and you'll need to sign up with Hackster and create an NVIDIA Developer account. Having acquired an NVIDIA account you might also want to sign up to NVIDIA's free course, Getting Started with AI on Jetson Nano. Expected to take 8 hours and including videos and quizzes as well as having several projects to complete, you'll learn how to:
Even if you don't want to participate in the challenge, the hardware and the course on how to start using it seem very attractive.
