Apple has announced that WWDC 2015 will take place June 8-12 and you have until Friday, April 17 at 10am PT to apply for a ticket. Apple is also offering up to 350 Scholarships, giving students the chance to earn a free ticket.
WWDC will take place at Moscone West in San Francisco and kick off with an opening keynote that in previous years has offered previews of new OS X and iOS versions. Beyond this the conference is going to feature more than 100 technical sessions, over 1,000 Apple engineers, hands-on labs to help developers integrate new technologies and fine tune their apps, as well as the Apple Design Awards which showcase the best new apps in the last year. So as to avoid the online scrum for ticket that we saw in previous years, Apple is offering tickets by random selection to current members of the iOS Developer Program, iOS Developer Enterprise Program, or Mac Developer Program. Those eligible should sign in with their developer accounts and submit the information required. If you’re randomly selected, the default credit/debit card associated with your Apple ID will be automatically charged by April 20, 5:00 p.m. PDT for 1599 USD, or in local currency where available. Would-be attendees between 13-17 years must have their ticket submissions completed by a parent or guardian who is an eligible member - but there is another route. Apple is offering up to 350 WWDC Scholarships to give talented students and young developers free tickets to attend this year’s conference. To be eligible for a WWDC Scholarship, you must be 13 years of age or older, a full or part-time student, or a member/alumni of one of the following: Rather than a lottery this is a talent contest and you need to build and submit a Mac or iOS app, written in Objective-C and Swift, or entirely in Swift. that showcases your creativity and technical skills. Scholarship applications can be submitted from Wednesday, April 22 at 10:00 a.m. PDT until Sunday, April 26 at 5:00 p.m. PDT and applicants will be notified by Friday May 8. Announcing this year's event, Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said. “We’ve got incredible new technologies for iOS and OS X to share with developers at WWDC and around the world, and can’t wait to see the next generation of apps they create.” So if you want to be there complete registration by April 17, 10:00 a.m. PDT for your chance to attend.
