Van Gogh Meets Turing

Don't yawn! Art and computers make a great team and there is a lot to be interested in if you are in computing and not art. Put simply - it's a lot of fun.

Google got together with Fresh Paint, an art fair held in Tel Aviv, and invited artists to collaborate with developers to create works of art.

The results are impressive and a lot of fun. The video shows a number of projects.

The first, Action Painter for Android devices, gives the audience the chance to paint using their mobile phones. The interesting part is that more than one person can paint at a time.

Plant A Comment is a multimedia display of text messages. Each comment grows into a tree.

Dissolving Localities which uses Google street view in some interesting ways to provide an "artistic" tour of Jerusalem.

Sound Tracker lets people create music by moving around the room.

Keep watching the background of the video because there are lots of other interesting ideas - I liked the Tetris...

I don't think the art here is particularly profound but it looks like fun.
