Ice Cream Sandwich has grown 50% in latest Android platform stats and now has 16% share compared to 11% a month ago. Gingerbread remains the most commonly used version with 60%
The figures are based on the number of Android devices that have accessed Google Play with the latest figures having been collected for the 14-day period to 1st August, 2012.

The historical trend over the past six months shows that interest in Icecream Sandwich has shown a surge over the past month, or so and has largely balanced by a decline in the use of Froyo (Android 2.2), allowing Gingerbread (2.3.x) to maintain its dominant share. The fact that Ice Cream Sandwich has more users than Froyo for the first time is an indication that Android tablets are beginning to take off. So although Jelly Bean doesn't yet figure in the area chart above, perhaps it won't be too long before we see it making an impact despite the fact that, at the moment it has just 0.8% share.
