Data Lakes For Big Data MOOC |

A MOOC that sets out to introduce the value, opportunity and insights that Big Data can provide starts next week on the edcast platform.
The free online course comes from the multinational data storage corporation EMC and focuses on its recently launched Federation Business Data Lake solution.
As explained in the video, it is aimed at primarily at business users - decision makers involved with an organization’s big data strategy. It is also expected to appeal to students and those interested in Big Data and Data Lakes and there are no specific pre-requisites. expected to attend this course. Starting on May 12 it will run for four weeks, requiring approximately two to three hours of work per week, with content being a mix of educational videos, recorded whiteboards, documents, and exercises. Participants will also interact with and learn from other students through small group assignments, discussion board posts, and social media activities. Week 1: What Is Big Data and Data Science?
Week 2: What's the Value of Big Data and Big Data Analytics?
Week 3: What Is the Federation Business Data Lake?
Week 4: How is the Data Lake Solution Operationalized?
Assessment questions will accompany each week's content and assignments, discussion posts, and problems will be peer-reviewed. A certificate will of completion will be awarded to participants who receive a cumulative passing score and the 500 participants with the top scores will receive an electronic copy of recently published text book from EMC Education on Data Science and Big Data Analytics.
