A new web-based AI powered search tool has been launched aimed at software teams. Accio is described as helping boost productivity and promote knowledge sharing. The developers of Accio say that they noticed that fellow software project team members had to access multiple systems to get their job done - Version Control systems, Defect Management systems, Document Management systems, and Source Code systems, along with emails and chats. Accio has been designed to pull information from all the repositories and display them in a single browser window. It also uses the role of the searcher to decide on the sort order of the search results. The name for Accio was inspired by the Harry Potter series of books, in which Accio is a summoning charm that is used to instantly bring a wanted object to whoever casts the spell. Accio uses machine learning algorithms that over time work out what is required by different roles in an organization. Th machine learning algorithms are then used to work out the relevance and order to be used for search results. Accio is described as an on-premise web-based search engine that can be installed behind your company’s firewall. It comes in two versions, one free to use and the other a paid-for version, both available in desktop and mobile versions. The free-to-use version can be installed without needing to provide any personal information, email ID or credit card details. You get all the features, and aren't limited on the number of users, data sources or documents. However, after 15 days you will be required to sign up and supply your email ID to continue using Accio for free. There's a hands-on demo on the website to show Accio in action.
