Sessions at the conference will show solutions for 'pain points' including:
There's a choice of whole day pre-conference workshop for October 25th, one each for the three tracks. The developer workshop is titled 'Modern Application Development with Office, SharePoint, and Azure', and looks at the how, when, where and why to use different development models - on-premises, cloud and hybrid, discussing the pros and cons, determining the optimal conditions for each, and seeing them all in action with a series of deep-dive demonstrations. Once into the main conference, the developer track has a good mix of sessions combining SharePoint with other technologies, alongside those concentrating on 'core' SharePoint. We've picked some of the more interesting sounding core sessions to give a feel for what's on offer. The Office 365 Developer Patterns and Practices (PnP) team have released two libraries focused on increase developer productivity by reducing the amount of code needed when building remote applications, and there's a session introducing these. The Office 365 Developer PnP Core Component is a managed code library that extends and encapsulates commonly used Client Object Model operations, while the Office 365 Developer PnP JavaScript Core Library is a JavaScript library that simplifies the use of the REST API. A session titled "Migrating Your Customizations from On-Prem to SharePoint Online" looks at what you should take into account with regards to customizations that might be deployed/added to SharePoint., including ideas such as Full Trust Code, Sandbox Solutions, Workflows, InfoPath Forms, JSLink, and Provider Hosted Applications. This session is based on a real-live migration, and includes tips and tricks what might/will break, if not mitigated properly. Another session that sounds very appealing is "Become a Developer Hero by Building Office Add-ins". It's debatable whether users ever see developers as heroes, but this session shows how to use the SharePoint Framework for client-side development, along with technologies including TypeScript, React, and the Office-UI-Fabric to build Add-ins for internal business use or for marketing them through the Office Store. The apps can extend Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and OneNote running inside Office 365 or natively on Windows and Apple Macintosh, with more platforms coming. You can save over €100 by registering before the September 8th, when the Early Bird rate ends). Plus save a further 20 % discount courtesy of IProgrammer by using code IPROG20 when you register.
