Eyeshot 10 is the latest release of a development tool for the engineering industry that works with Windows Forms and WPF. It adds Solid3D object booleans to its existing wide range of modeling tools. Eyeshot is a CAD control for the .NET Framework that lets you add CAD features to WinForms and WPF applications simply by dragging an item from the Visual Studio toolbox onto your Form or Window. As soon as you install it, you will be ready to start drawing using your preferred .NET programming language.
Eyeshot provides tools that let you create geometric shapes from scratch or import from CAD exchange file formats. The control lets you combine multiple data sources, input devices and CAD entity types. Geometry can be easily generated using contour extrusion, revolution and sweep operations and later combined with booleans like union, intersection and difference. Developers can select between Mesh, Solid and Nurbs surface modeling technologies. 2D vector layouts and raster images generation from the 3D scene is available. Nine different geometry selection modes, including by pick, by box and by polygon are included in the control and developers can easily browse the geometry assembly structure or inspect part topology. It comes from devDept Software, an Italian company specializing in development tools for the engineering industry and has a diverse range of uses: from Computed Aided Design and Computed Aided Manufacturing, Ground Information System, civil engineering, medical visualization, machine simulation, robotics and 3D printing.
Eyeshot 10's new features include Solid3D object booleans. The developers say this is a major achievement, as the booleans let you build and export Manifold BRep solids with the same accuracy and topology of mainstream 3D CAD systems, something the developers have been working towards for a long time.
Other improvements are the inclusion of an assembly environment, support for AutoCAD line types and the ability to export the geometry in WebGL format. The developers have also added a number of classes to build shapes like rounded rectangle, hexagon, slot and circular slot on any 3D plane.
The product assemblies are 100% managed code and its installation includes more than 60 source code samples in both C# and Visual Basic.NET and for Windows Forms and Windows Presentation Foundation platforms. Eyeshot is available in Professional and Ultimate editions and is licensed per developer, with prices ranging from 690 to 1200 Euros. devDept also provides Eyeshot Web Service, a secure hosted service that provides access to Eyeshot engine in the cloud, which allows you to take advantage of Eyeshot engine capabilities from any platform. It can be used, for example, to convert CAD files, to generate high quality images from CAD files and to generate bill of materials always from CAD files.
