Visual Studio 2022 v17.12 is now available. The release can be used for .NET 9 projects and has a range of other improvements. As we reported, .NET 9 has also been released, and comes with enhancements for Blazor and MAUI, along with C# 13, improvements to ASP.NET Core, and .NET Aspire for apps aimed at Kubernetes. The final release of Visual Studio is similar to that from the earlier release candidate, with the IDE changes being better code search and an improved debugging experience for Blazor WebAssembly apps targeting .NET 9 or later. There's improved support for multi-project launch configuration, and you can now add multiple GitHub accounts and set an active account to drive GitHub features like GitHub Copilot and Version Control. GitHub Copilot support in the IDE now comes with AI smart variable inspection, and an AI-powered IEnumerable visualizer that includes AI-powered LINQ editable expressions. Copilot can now offer suggestions for fixing code issues, and there's better AI completions for C#. More general GitHub support includes the ability to create private repositories directly from Visual Studio. The C++ options now let you set C++ command line arguments, along with new Build Insights view explanations, along with the improvements included in the release candidate, specifically a better open source standard library implementation, and advances in the formatted output implementation to include range formatter for ranges, pairs and tuples. Improvements to Azure support start with the ability to publish to Azure WebJobs on Linux, and there's a preview of a tool for publishing to Azure Flex Consumption hosting plan. Extra support for more traditional data projects is limited, though there is now the ability to use the SDK-style project file format in your SQL Server Data Tools projects. This adds cross-platform support and improved package references to SQL Server Data Tools (SSDT) projects. Alongside Visual Studio, Microsoft has updated NET Aspire, Microsoft's set of tools, templates, and packages for working with .NET apps. The latest version includes improvements to the dashboard and resource lifecycle management. It also adds new integrations and APIs. Aspire is delivered through a collection of NuGet packages that handle specific cloud-native aspects of development. Visual Studio 2022 17.12 is available now.
