Swiffy Extension for Flash Professional

An extension to Swiffy that lets you convert Flash animations to HTLM5 with one click is another step on the road to HTML5 supremacy.

Google launched Swiffy, a tool which takes a Swf file and converts it to HTML5, in July, allowing you to reuse Flash content on devices without a Flash player - something that is even more important since Adobe has given up on mobile Flash player.

Although still in beta it has added lots of features since its initial release and now has a new extension that enable Flash developers to continue to work with their existing tools and then instantly convert animations to HTML5.

The extension uses Swiffy as a web service, and so always uses the most recent version, and is compatible with Adobe Flash Professional CS4 or later under Windows or MAC.

Once you download the Swiffy Extension .mpx file the Adobe Extension Manager will install it, making the new command Export  to HTML5 available from within Flash Professional:

You'll also get instant information about the conversion process such as features that are not support in the Output panel:

Swiffy currently supports a subset of SWF 8 and ActionScript 2.0, and can't yet convert DoubleClick Studio creatives. Its output is claimed to work in all Webkit browsers such as Chrome and Mobile Safari.

Swiffy was originally in Google Labs, then gained its own site but is still in beta. Recently Google has encouraged developers come to rely on free beta tools only to start charging for them when they stop being experimental and graduate to being fully fledged products. Is this what will happen to Swiffy?
