Java - evil. Byte code is like communism. "It is a virus". So we turn off Java and yes there is a button that can do that. Watch as events unfold in this stylish promo for JavaZone Norway.
JavaZone Norway is a great conference, or so those who have been tell me, but it also has a reputation for making great quality video spoofs to get you interested.
It's high point was the unforgettable 2010 LadyJava music video which has had over 300,000 views and was taken down for a while due to some slight problems with copyright. It's back up now so if you have never seen it now is your chance - it's at the end of this item.
This year's promo video has just been released and, JavaZone is back on form. It starts out with the premise that Java is evil - no issues with that. So dangerous is it that the president presses the Java Undo button - I wonder where that lives - oh yes right next to the Undo Global Warming button.
Enough - just watch and keep on the look out for the small details that make the video funny and all too believable:
Eatagram! Java update in 42 years... Oracle as the hero or anti-hero? Javatar! And how did they get Stephen Hawking to agree.
If you visit http://jz13.java.no/ you could even find out about this year's conference. Did I say that half of the sessions are in English making it slightly more accessible than if it was all in Norwegian? One day machine translation will remove these silly barriers.
