A new contest on Challenge Post, with $20,000 in prizes, aims to promote motion controlled games for iPad devices that utilize the Extreme Motion iOS SDK - which is also available to developers on other platforms.

Using Extreme Reality's software-only solution any device with a 2D camera can react to your body movement with no additional hardware. If you've not come across it before this video will put you in the picture and encourage youto incorporate full body movement into your apps:

As further encouragement Extreme Reality has initiated a competition for the iPad with the following cash prizes:

1st Prize - $10,000

2nd Prize - $6,000

3rd Pize - $3,000

In addition the prize winners will benefit from promotion in Extreme Reality marketing efforts after the contest and the top contestant will also get to meet Trip Hawkins, founder of Electronic Arts, who is one of the judges for the contest.

There's also a People's Choice Award for the submission with the most votes from fellow contestants and the Extreme Reality community of a Macbook Air.

The contest is open to individuals, teams and organisations on a worldwide basis - though it has to exclude territories where US or local law prohibits participating or receiving prizes in such contests and you can submit new or existing games.

So what is required?

Contestants must create a working game application that utilizes the Extreme Motion iOS SDK and send it to the Contest Webpage, together with a text description and video of 5 minutes or less. It has to run on an iPad 2 and above and needs to be in English or to provide an English translation.

In the registration phase, which is now open via Challenge Post you need to provide a project description and in return you'll be send a link to access the Extreme Motion SDK with unlimited free use perpetuity for the game submitted.

Developers who don't want to compete but are interested in the SDK, can fill in a form to apply for it, choosing Windows, Android, iOS, Linux, OS X or other from a drop down list.

The submission period closes on November 15 and judging and voting for People's choice takes place from November 16 - December 1, with winners being announced on December 5.
