Google Makes Data Studio Freer

Google has removed a major restriction from the free version of Data Studio, its dashboarding and reporting tool. Until now, the free version was limited to creating five reports, but you can now create and share as many reports as you want.

Data Studio is the free component of Google Data Studio 360, which is available as a paid-for product for data visualization and reporting with licensing starting at 200 users. It can be used to connect to all your data with native integrations across a range of Google products, as well as non-Google data.

Both versions can be used to create reports from data from AdWords, Google Analytics, YouTube, BigQuery, Attribution 360 and Google Sheets.

Since the launch, the product has been improved with the addition of templates and new data connectors. New connectors since the initial release include DoubleClick Campaign Manager and DoubleClick Search data; Google BigQuery; Google Cloud SQL; MySQL, and YouTube Channel. The YouTube connector lets you create visualizations from any field available in the YouTube API.

The templates provide sample reports for marketing based on Analytics 360 data; ecommerce based on Analytics 360 and Adwords.

There's an adwords overview using just Adwords data, and a YouTube channel analysis. There are two templates based on Google Sheets data, one showing a range of charts and the second charts based on ad performance; and the final Google Analytics 360 template is a dashboard report of the Google merchandise store.

The free version is available for use in more countries - it was originally only available in the US, but can now be used in 22 countries including Australia, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.

The video below is an introduction to Data Studio that shows how it can be used to create reports and dashboards:
