The Raspberry Pi Foundation has launched Hello World a magazine about computing and digital making aimed at, and written by, educators. Issue 1 is available now as a print magazine in the UK and a downloadable pdf worldwide.

With three issues each year, corresponding to the Spring, Summer and Autumn school terms Hello World contains 100 pages filled with news, features and teaching resources.

According to the Raspberry Pi Foundation:

It is designed to be cross-curricular and useful to all kinds of educators, from classroom teachers to librarians. While it includes lots of great examples of how educators are using Raspberry Pi computers in education, it is device- and platform-neutral. 

If you don't already know it the Raspberry Pi Foundation already has MagPi a monthly magazine devoted to the Pi and aimed primarily at hobbyists and makers.

The cover feature of the inaugural issue has the title Papert's Legacy and is a 6-page article with contributions by Mitch Resnick, creator of Scratch.

Scratch has a big role to play in this issue as you can see from the contents list of the magazine's Learning Section.

Another article featured on the cover is How to Start a Code Club. This has been written by Clare Sutcliffe co-founder of Code Club, which is part of the Raspberry Pi Foundation. There are already over 5,000 code clubs in the UK and a further 4,000 in the rest of the world with more than 120 countries represented.

Although the magazine has a strong UK bias it is by no means restricted to UK. American Picademy is the title of an article about the Raspberry Pi Foundation's professional development training in the USA, while Italy Puts Makerspaces in Every School is news of an Italian government-led initiative.

There's plenty to read in this issue and if you are a UK based educator you can qualify to get the first year's subscription free. If you are not eligible for this you can subscribe in the UK a year's subscription is £15 for 3 issues. You can also download the entire magazine for free from the Hello World website.
