One of the highlights of the programming year is SIGGRAPH and particularly the video trailer that showcases the work that is being presented. This year's is well worth the three minutes it takes to see.

If you don't know about SIGGRAPH you must be new to the graphics world. This is the place that researchers into graphics most want to present their results. To quote from its own page:

"The 43rd SIGGRAPH Conference on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques is a five-day interdisciplinary educational experience, featuring the world's most prestigious forum for computer graphics research, creative adventures in digital media, immersive realities, emerging interactive technologies, advanced mobile systems, and hands-on opportunities for creative collaboration."

The fun starts from the beginning:

So just watch. It really is 3 minutes of pleasure - pay attention carefully at 37 seconds in or you will miss the water frog:

Will you ever be able to forget the teapot bunny collision? And what about the nightmares that will be generated by the Enterprise being plastically deformed by the the falling Tie fighters? And playing a hippo as a trumpet?!

Before you ask, or more likely complain, about the style of the video - well, that is the traditional style of the SIGGRAPH video and probably always will be.

If  3 minutes wasn't enough for you then spend the time on the 19 longer videos of each of the presentations:
