Amazon is re-organizing the AWS Marketplace to make it easier for users to find the products on offer and has announced a beta version of Amazon Web Services Partner Program.

Amazon is re-organizing the Amazon Web Services Marketplace to make it easier for users to find the products on offer. The move will see all the products available on Amazon AWS in a single location as Amazon Machine Images (AMIs) alongside the cost and reviews of the products.

The details include what the operating system is and if there’s any support included. There’s also an interface that will let potential purchasers search for products. Once someone has found a suitable AMI and paid for it, they can launch it directly from the Marketplace. The purchaser pays via Amazon, and as a seller you get the money from Amazon.

At the same time, Amazon has announced a beta version of Amazon Web Services  Partner Program. The move seems to be primarily about keeping AWS at the top of the heap of cloud platforms. The rise of OpenStack and its success in attracting partners is showing how the cloud market is still up for grabs - OpenStack now has more than 150 partners for its cloud platform.

Amazon’s AWS Partner Network (APN) is a global partner program that promises members help with technical information and sales and marketing support. There will be two types of partner, Technology Partners and Consulting Partners. Technology Partners covers Independent Software Vendors (ISVs), tools providers and platform providers, and both types of partner is organized into three performance-based tiers: Registered, Standard, and Advanced.

There's an FAQ on the Partner Network here, and if you’re interested in registering for pre-qualification as a partner the upgrade there is a form to complete.
